The Beauty of the Mosaics at Laurel Highlands School

In the rush to get our pieces finished in the aftermath of so many snow days, students are almost completed with their mosaic works. Thursday, March 11th we will proudly display our mosaics along with a year's worth of work from various students in a huge student exhibit. It is being held in conjunction with the upcoming musical of "Guys and Dolls".

The students work will be judged and this year will be awarded ribbons, cash prizes and even a purchase award. Four judges will be in attendance. It will be extremely difficult to choose among the mosaics because all the work has been spectacular. What has been most enjoyable to be a part of is the final result and pride taken in the works of these students. They have all worked hard to make some great art!

Our next project with the more advanced classes will be geared towards our metal sculptures and also clay sculptures depicting Pop Art in the theme of Food! In the metal process, students will learn my procedures to creating a piece out of steel along with the design and computer work involved in the initial process. I will be bringing my torch set, mig welder and various tools to set up shop outside....once the weather decides to cooperate!
